CFPCLearn is now live!

The Alberta College of Family Physicians (ACFP) announced last summer that the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) has acquired GoMainpro. CFPCLearn is CFPC’s new online learning platform providing expansive continuing professional development (CPD) and continuing medical education CME opportunities and is led by the Programs and Practice Supports Department’s Knowledge Experts and Tools (KET) Initiative.

The content on CFPCLearn is rich and diverse, including material carried over from GoMainpro, such as:

Tools for Practice evidence summaries
Podcasts and video recordings of Practical Talks for Family Docs, the CFPC’s collection of presentations on key clinical topics relevant to family practice in Canada
Video recordings of talks from the Practical Evidence for Informed Practice Conference and the Family Medicine Summit from the Alberta College of Family Physicians
A new interactive online game, Choose Your Briefs, based on the popular Jeopardy!-style game format that the Patients, Experience, Evidence, Research (PEER) team presents at medical conferences across Canada

GoMainpro Subscriptions Update

All current GoMainpro subscribers will have their subscriptions transferred to CFPCLearn—the College of Family Physician of Canada (CFPC)’s new online learning platform. Your GoMainpro subscription will be transferred to a CFPCLearn subscription and honoured for the entire subscription period.

KET Initiative

Led by the CFPC, the KET Initiative endeavours to provide evidence-based tools, guidelines, and relevant CPD/CME opportunities developed with the realities of a typical family physician’s practice in mind. Most importantly, the KET Initiative’s funding is free from industry bias—contributing partners include the ACFP, Ontario College of Family Physicians, the Saskatchewan College of Family Physicians, and the College of Family Physicians of Canada. KET is guided by clinical expertise of the PEER (Patients, Experience, Evidence, and Research) group, a primary care led evidence based medicine team focused on providing relevant evidence to family physicians and primary care providers.

Since 2014, the ACFP has proudly provided online opportunities to earn certified and non-certified Mainpro+ credits to members and non members across Alberta and Canada. The ACFP was the first chapter to launch a pan-Canadian online learning offering. Over the years, subscribers have represented members from all points of the country from the Yukon to British Columbia, Quebec, and Prince Edward Island.

How GoMainpro Works

GoMainpro is an online learning platform where you can earn certified credits for ACFP’s Tools for Practice library and ACFP’s Video Library from its past events—the Family Medicine Summit (formerly known as the Annual Scientific Assembly) and Practical Evidence for Informed Practice conferences.

Simply read a Tools for Practice article or watch a video and reflect on your learning experience and earn credits—it is that easy!

Lege at Oslo universitetssykehus

Dr. Asbjørn Følling ble født i Bergen, Norge i 1969. Etter å ha tilbrakt sin barndom i Bergen og uteksaminert fra Høgskolen i Bergen i 1986, skrev Asbjørn seg på University of Oslo (UiO) med hensikten å bli lege.

Utdannet ved Universitetet i Oslo i 1992 hadde Asbjørn internatet ved Oslo universitetssykehus og fikk sin medisinske grad derfra i 1994. Asbjørns første jobb etter endt utdanning var et samarbeid med vennen Dr. Ernst Velde ved Oslo universitetssykehus. Praksisen deres ble raskt en av de mest populære i byen, og trakk inn mange pasienter fra hele området. Til slutt doblet de i størrelse med tillegg av to andre leger i 1996, i tillegg til et laboratorium på stedet og røntgen, sparte de pasienter for problemer med å måtte beholde disse tjenestene andre steder.

Asbjørn er respektert både blant pasienter og kolleger for sin forståelse og medfølelse. Hans evne til å hjelpe en pasient gjennom vanskelige tider hjelper ved at han også har håndtert sine egne personlige helsekamper i løpet av karrieren. I 1999 fikk Asbjørn diagnosen lungekreft i trinn 2, noe som tvang ham til å ta 6 måneder fra behandlingen. Diagnostisert som kreftfri i 2003, vendte han tilbake på jobb og har blitt drevet siden den gang for å sikre at pasienter er trygge og sikre i helsen.
